Sara-Jane at last is starting to regain the form that we know she is capable of, with a good 20k time of 1.47.31. Her first 10k was done in 53.06 and she showed no sign of slowing down until the last 2.5km. Nina Grgurovic was once again troubled by shin soreness again and would have raced a good time in the 10k when she had to pull out at the 7.5k mark in 40.13…….this would equate to around 52mins for a 10k, going on her pace and finish……unlucky Nina, but there is still plenty of time. Martyn Wheatley raced a seasons best 10k in a time of 49.17 carrying a head cold into the race. Harley, Gabrielle and Anna all finished their 5k’s in a reasonable time, with Melissa Sullivan also carrying a leg injury, struggling home. The three u/14’s, Rebecca, Jacinda and Tiffany were a little bit slower in the 3k, not too sure of the course may have been a slight problem. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Walks Results - 28 May 2006 @ Perry Lakes Road 15K Handicap 1 Wheatley Martyn 77.25; 2 Cattermole Sara 83.50 8K Handicap 1 Grgurovic Anna 44.59; 2 Dagnone Gabrielle 45.56; 3 Grgurovic Katarina 42.12; 4 Sheehan Mark 45.00; 6 Romeo Lesley 59.59; DNF Melissa Sullivan 4K Handicap 1 Dib Nathaniel 24.00; 3 Dib Samuel 19.50; 4 Chapman Harley 22.33; 6 Hahn Andrea 22.31; 7 Dagnone Tiffany 23.13; 12 Dib Jacob 26.30 2K Handicap 1 Dib Amy 15.14 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ AthleticA Inter-Club Race-walk Results - Perry Lakes Stadium 21 May 2006 “Ron Davies Trophy” Men u/20 10km: 1st Martyn Wheatley (u/20) (NDW) 50.56; “Anne Murray Trophy” Women u/20 6km: 1st Nina Grgurovic (NDW) 32.58; 2nd Melissa Sullivan (NDW) 35.28; Open mixed 3km: 1st Samuel Dib (RWC)u/14 15.30; 3rd Gabrielle D’Agnone u/18) (RWC) 16.07; 4th Louise Richardson u/14 (RWC) 16.10;8th Tiffany D’Agnone u/14 (RWC) 17.25;9th Andrea Hahn u/14(RWC) 17.51;10th Harley Chapman (RWC) u/14 18.09; 12th Nathaniel Dib (RWC) u/14 18.42; 15th Jacob Dib (RWC) u/14 20.11; 16th Amy Dib RWC) Open 24.39. The RWCWA (Representing Seniors Club Northern Districts) won both Athletica Trophies at Perry Lakes Stadium on 21/5/06. The mens u/20 10km, “Ron Davies Cup” was won by Martyn Wheatley in a modest time of 50.56. He was at no stage threatened by the 2nd place Curtin walker who came in over 2 minutes behind him. Nina Grgurovic won the u/20’s 6km, “Anne Murray Trophy” with a good time of 32.59 and as usual the fast improving Melissa Sullivan came in 2nd with a time of 35.28, with the Curtin club struggling in 3rd place. The 3km Open mixed walks was won , as usual, by Samuel Dib in 15.30, who quipped “I could have gone faster if my shoelace hadn’t come undone”…….he is only 12 and had just done an Australian u/16 National Standard Championships qualifier! Amy Dib continued her walking skills with a fine 24.39, that balances out to around the 8mins for 1km mark, not bad for a mum who had previously won the Mothers Day Trophy a week earlier!! Louise Richardson also qualified for the All Schools/nationals u/16’s with a time of 16.10 and is improving with every race. Louise’s Nanna has just come over from England and is definitely a good luck charm! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Walks Results 14 May 2006 @ Wanneroo Here are the Wanneroo walks results, and it was very disappointing in the fact that no walkers (apart from 1) turned up from the other Walking Club! The Mothers Day Cup was the highlight of the morning, with Jacky Hamersley and Amy Dib battling it out for the Cup. Amy won the hard fought 2km in a time of 16.21 with Jacky romping in, in a time of 18.43. Well done to both Mums who entered the race in good spirits and on Mothers day too! Louise Richardson in the 3km achieved a PB and many good times were recorded from several others…….looking good for the rest of the season. 8K Handicap: 1 Sara Cattermole 43.40 5K Handicap: 1 Nathaniel Dib 33.48; 2 Jacob Dib 33.48; 3 Anna Grgurovic 27.42; 4 Samuel Dib 26.34; 5 Gabrielle Dagnone 27.58; 6 Katarina Grgurovic 26.38 3K Handicap: 1 Louise Richardson 16.16; 2 Harley Chapman 17.12; 3 Rebecca Phillips 21.30; 4 Tiffany Dagnone 17.52; 5 Andrea Hahn 17.09; 6 Melissa Sullivan 17.45 2K Mothers Day Trophy: 1 Amy Dib 16.21; 2 Jacky Hamersley 18.43 ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Walks Results 7/5/2006 at Wilson First competition of this winter season Presidents Cup Trophy Women Teams 10K 1 Melissa Sullivan 61.18 & Sara Cattermole 53.04 2 Anna Grgurovic 69.14 & Katarina Grgurovic 53.05 Don Rapley Trophy Men Teams 10K 2 Clay Foster 66.20 & Martyn Wheatley 51.26 Open 10K Women 1 Gabrielle Dagnone 60.06 Open 5K Women 2 Tiffany Dagnone 29.51 3 Louise Richardson 30.03 8 Lesley Romeo 36.38 Open 5K Men 1 Samuel Dib 26.33 3 Harley Chapman 29.35 Open 2K Women 1 Andrea Hahn 10.50 2 Sheree Boase 11 3 The Presidents Cup was won by the powerful 2 team RWCWA ladies teams of Sara Jane Cattermole, Melissa Sullivan, Ana and Nina Grgurovic. These 4 walkers were never pressed at any stage through the race by the Curtin walkers and although not a team member, Gabrielle D’Agnone was another RWCWA walker who did a magnificent 1st up time of 60.06 However, although Martyn Wheatley powered home to win the Don Rapley Trophy, the Curtin team proved a bit too strong in their final place positions. Clay Foster, the newest RWCWA member representing Northern Districts for the first time bravely carried on and finished his first 10k for a long time. Melville limped in, in 3rd place Other times were of the highest standard for our first up Winter race. Tiffany D’Agnone, only 11 years old, recorded a brilliant time in the 5k open, 29.51, with Louise and Harley, 30.03 and 29.35 respectively. Samuel Dib blitzed the 5k field however, with a 26.33 time, and in typical Samuel style, said” Oh its not too bad a time”!!!! Andrea Hahn and new girl Sherrie Boase came home in 10.50 and 11.03 in the 2k. Some good early results made Coach, Rick Cattermole a very happy chappie and he looks forward to the rest of the season, hopefully culminating in a successful trip to Hobart in August for the Australian Nationals.
